A Vision for Immersive Virtual World Learning for Scottish Schools

The metaverse—persistent, shared virtual worlds accessed via VR/AR headsets, computers, or mobile devices—is emerging as a transformative tool for digital education.

The goal of this project is to position Scotland as a global leader in immersive education by establishing a national "Metaverse learning" framework, and rolling out adoption across all Scottish schools.

World Class Education

This project will leverage immersive technologies (VR/AR) to deepen learning, enhance vocational skills, and deliver on the principles of Equity and GIRFEC (Getting It Right For Every Child), ensuring every learner can access world-class experiences regardless of their location or support needs.

Scottish EdTech Ecosystem

This project is designed as a strategic, multi-year initiative that builds upon Scotland's existing digital foundations, such as the Glow platform, the national 1:1 device strategy, and the world-class research being conducted by Scottish universities.

This project is far more than a technology rollout; it is the next evolution of Scotland's educational promise, our chance to shatter barriers. In the Scottish Metaverse, a pupil in a remote island school will have the same access to world-class resources as a pupil in the centre of Glasgow.
