Skills Curriculum for a 21st Century Scottish Digital Nation

Digital Skills are of course central to the ambitions of a Digital Nation, empowering citizens to be productive online and equip them with employable talents.

From the essential skills required for the modern workplace through the knowledge to start and grow a new digital business, all the desired outcomes are dependent on the latest technology skills.

Our Digital Skills Strategy draws together the key policies, industry leader insights and worldwide best practices to shape an action plan that can underpin a world leading Scottish Digital Nation.

Building

A Scottish Tech Talent Pipeline

The Scotland Tech Talent Pipeline is a collaborative, community-driven initiative aimed at addressing the digital skills gap by aligning educational offerings with the needs of Scotland’s technology-driven industries.

Businesses across sectors are polled to identify critical tech skills, such as AI, cybersecurity, and data analytics, through surveys and interviews coordinated with industry bodies like ScotlandIS.

Curriculum Development

These findings are mapped into a modular curriculum framework, outlining learning outcomes and delivery methods, including online and apprenticeship options, with a focus on inclusivity.

Learning Partners

The curriculum is shared with colleges, universities, and training providers via workshops and a digital platform, enabling them to offer relevant courses.

Curriculum and Community

We also run a regular schedule of webinars for panel discussions, employer and skills showcase workshops.

Events feature social networking tools, so you can then also join virtual lounges, meet and connect with tutors and other attendees.
