Tay Cities Digital Ecosystem Group – Building Scotland’s Digital Economy in the Tayside Region

Innovation group is developing digital projects to scale companies, talent, innovations, and investment opportunities across the region.

Leading the Scottish digital nation building efforts for the Tay Cities region is Cheryl Torano, Business Development Manager for the Abertay cyberQuarter.

Cheryl is also part of the team leading the Tay Cities Digital Ecosystem Group, established in November 2022, aims to boost the digital economy in the Tayside region (Dundee, Angus, Perth & Kinross, and Fife) by fostering collaboration among stakeholders.

It focuses on developing digital projects to scale companies, talent, innovations, and investment opportunities, through developing a roadmap of activity that catalyses the digital economy of Tayside through connecting and collaborating with key stakeholders across the region.

Digital Economy Workstreams

The group operates through six workstreams to strengthen the digital economy in the Tayside region (Dundee, Angus, Perth & Kinross, and Fife):

  • Company and Growth is dedicated to supporting businesses in scaling, increasing competitiveness, and driving sustainable economic impact.
  • Engagement and Collaboration aims to foster a connected and collaborative digital community in Tayside.
  • Funding and Investment is committed to attracting greater investment and simplify pathways to funding for digital tech companies.
  • Infrastructure will create a world leading connected digital community.
  • Innovation will develop new digital solutions addressing key sectoral challenges in the region.
  • Skills and Talent aims to grow and retain a digital talent pipeline that meets the needs of the Tay Cities Region.

Each workstream focuses on a specific area to drive collaboration, innovation, and economic growth, and collectively aim to leverage the £300 million Tay Cities Region Deal to create a vibrant, inclusive, and innovative digital ecosystem, fostering economic growth, job creation, and regional collaboration.
